It all began on the Friday 19th Feb as the Ruapuna circuit was open for all racers to come and try to get their cars right for some track time before the big day. Five local XRAY drivers pitted together, away from the main tent which the club had set up for the competitors.
As the day went on there was some talk in the pits about who was fast , who was doing what times. The three local XRAY drivers that pitted together were in the same Touring Stock class and of the two others sharing the same pit area one was in Modified and the other was racing in 1/12th.classes.
We all did our very best but thereâ™s always one that is racing better than the rest. In Touring Stock it was down to who had a better 540 motor as they are included in the cost of entry and you are to use only these motors or replace with another new one from the club as these are the conditions of entry.
Qualifying was held on the Saturday and as usual there were both unhappy and happy people depending on where they qualified and how their races went..

The qualifying heats were so close that down to 15th place were still on 11 laps. The 11th placed driver missed out on the last A final berth by 1.5 seconds!! And that was another young local XRAY driver Cameron Dench.
I enjoyed the weekends racing and had lots of fun racing and cant wait to do it again.
